The day started early in the morning. After breakfast we drove to Pompano Beach High School. We were all very tired, but little nervous and excited because we knew what was going to happen...
First we went to the library and talked a little bit with the students there. After that we went outside and watched students from the “military class” (JROTC) hissing the US, Floridan and Swiss flag. We were all very fascinated about how disciplined they are. We took some pictures and went inside. We got the opportunity to shoot with rifles at targets. It was a very cool and new experience for all of us. Lara had to shoot twice, because she didn’t know where she should look.
Then we went to the auditorium and did a soundcheck and we could rehearse our little piano act and our dance.
As the audience was walking in, we all got a little bit more nervous. Norina and Lara started the program with their piano act, then the presentations were up next and at the end we got to perform our little dance. At the beginning I (Lara) was a little bit nervous but the moment we were on stage all jumpiness was gone. The whole crowd was going nuts and it was breathtaking and such a great experience.
After the performance we went to the library and we could talk to our pen pals again. We took lots of selfies, videos and more it was such a life learning experience. The people here are unbelievably nice!!!
Well at 12:00pm we went to the cafeteria to have lunch. We could choose between different type of food. But I (Lara) had pizza and I (Jessica) had a cheeseburger.
At 1:30pm we could go to different classes. Us two chose the technology class. I (Jessica) got to know more and more new people and they were indescribably amazing!
It was a great experience to watch how different the school is in comparison to ours. We could try on the 3D glasses and go into a virtual world that they created by themselves. After these classes we went to the pep rally. Jasmitha, Giada and I (Jessica) got asked if we wanted to dance at the pep rally too. We agreed and we danced in front of 1200 people and it was so loud and the whole crowd was going nuts again! There was also another dance group which was so lit and some students played dodge ball. At the end of the pep rally they showed a video compilation from some seniors and the memories they’ve made. I (Jessica) got really emotional and we all were sad at the end because it we all had to say goodbye to all of our friends. I’m really hoping to see them again. We hugged everyone for the last time and went to the “high school store” and we bought some hoodies, t-shirts, etc.
We left school at 3.30 pm. we were all very tired.
Arriving at the hotel we got 3 hours for ourselves. Most of us went swimming.
For dinner we went to an italian restaurant. It was very delicious. We all are going to bed now because tomorrow we have to get up early.
Jessica & Lara
We are the twelfthgeneration which has the opportunity to go to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We are ?? students from four different classes (??). This year we are many more students than in the past evelen years. All of us are very excited about the whole trip. We are going to visit many famous locations and we’ll do a lot of different things with our teacher (Mr. Hediger). The whole situation is going to be new for most of us, because we have never been nonstop together for such a long time. Furthermore, most of us have never flown so far. But, we think, that this won’t be a problem and we are going to have a great time anyway. Actually we don't really know what to expect, but we're all looking forward to it.
